Accommodation

We can help you to find an accommodation during your studies in Limoges and we can act as a guarantor (Many private landlords require a third party to act as a guarantor for the rent payments before they’ll agree to let a property to a student).

Once you’ve confirmed your arrival date, 3iL will help you book an accommodation.

Accommodation are assigned by order of confirmation (to 3iL) and after confirming your arrival date.

Before moving to your new accommodation, you must contact 3iL, to notify us of your arrival. (email: )

The rent will have to be paid on a regular-basis, in conformity with the rules and regulations imposed by the landlord. Given that we act as guarantor, any delay or cessation of payment will lead to a postponing of all administrative treatment from 3iL until you pay the rents.

For those who want to stay in student residences, they will have to sign a one-year lease agreement. Before your arrival, if you ask us to book a room for you, you will have to pay in advance the deposit, plus the first-month rent (you will get back the deposit after the departure inventory). You will also have to pay an insurance for the accommodation.

You can also choose your accommodation by yourself.

Driving license

You can drive in France using a foreign driving license, but after a certain time some nationalities need to exchange it for a French driving license. To do so, you’ll have to go to the Prefecture of Haute-Vienne with your foreign driving license, its translation into French and your residency permit. This step must be completed during the year of normal residency in France, which corresponds to the effective date of the establishment of the first residency permit.

After this delay, the driving license cannot be exchanged and will become invalid: you will not be able to drive a vehicle in France with your foreign license after one year of residency.

Health and Social Security Cover

Social Security Cover

All French citizens have to pay social security contributions to have their medical costs reimbursed. It’s the same for foreign students who would like to benefit from the French students social security. For your information, in 2016-2017, the subscription fees were around 215€ (for students). Nonetheless, depending on your age and your home country, you can be exempted from this compulsory insurance coverage. Directly contact the CPAM (Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie) to know more about your situation and the procedure you may have to follow: http://www.ameli.fr/assures/votre-caisse-haute-vienne/index_haute-vienne.php

What is a health insurance (mutuelle) ?

The subscription to a health insurance (mutuelle) is optional but highly recommended. The student social security only reimburses around 70 per cent of the cost of most routine treatments and sometimes much less for certain medications and services. Therefore, it is recommended to top up your health cover with additional private health insurance to help cover the fees that are not cover by the state.

Public liability insurance

Students who plan to do an internship during the academic year must have a « Public liability insurance » (proposed by students’ health insurances (mutuelles) or private insurance companies). If the document is delivered in your country, remember to ask for a European Health Insurance Card to have your medical costs reimbursed.

European Health Insurance Card

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is a free card that gives you the right to access state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in a European Economic Area country or Switzerland. The EHIC is issued by your national health insurance provider. You must apply for it before leaving your country. For more information about the EHIC, please consult this website: http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=559
