Accessibility and Disabilities
Your circumstances should never stand in the way of your success
You may be wondering whether an engineering school can truly accommodate students with disabilities. That’s a valid question, and the answer is yes: For several years now, 3iL Ingénieurs has been implementing concrete measures to welcome, support, and accommodate students, so that everyone can pursue a higher education program under the right conditions.
What this means for you in practical terms
Providing a healthy environment and making our courses accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances, by adapting our facilities and your work schedule: this is at the heart of our priorities. Specifically, if you have a disability, here are the measures we are implementing :
- Even before your program begins, you will meet individually with the person in charge of disability services and the Student Life Office, in a confidential setting, to discuss your specific needs and what accommodations were already in place during your previous academic experience.
- An extra time slot is always set aside for your assignments. You will be evaluated under appropriate conditions: alone, in a dedicated room, with a whiteboard at your disposal, and pre-gridded sheets designed to make your work easier.
- A common room is available for you if you need some privacy. It is designed to be soothing—with soft lighting, internet access, and sofas—so you can relax in a more peaceful atmosphere.
- For certain self-study sessions, you can go home to take a break while the rest of your group stays in the classroom.
- Attendance requirements may be lightened depending on your situation.
- Your exam accommodations can be adjusted: a private room with extra time, bonus points on computer-based exams, provision of a computer or tablet, and having the exam instructions read aloud.
- You may be assisted by an outside person, both during classes and during exams, if your situation requires it.
- Regular check-ins are scheduled throughout your program to stay attuned to your needs and consider new adjustments as necessary.
This support program has seen significant growth in recent years: from 15 students receiving support in 2021–2022 to 34 in 2025–2026, representing just over 6 percent of the student cohort. This figure does not reflect a worsening problem, but rather a support program that is increasingly recognized and sought out by students who need it.
Your Disability and HVSS Liaison (Gender-Based and Sexual Violence and Harassment)
Our Disability and HVSS Coordinator is here to welcome you, provide you with information, and support you throughout your academic career, regardless of your disability. The coordinator is responsible for arranging the accommodations you need throughout your program.
More specifically, she meets with you at the start of the school year to assess your situation and specific needs, proposes appropriate accommodations, and informs your instructors about these accommodations. Regular follow-up meetings are then scheduled to ensure your well-being and discuss any necessary adjustments. This coordinator is also available to identify, support, and facilitate medical care for students experiencing psychological difficulties.
