Keys steps before the start of the School Year
There are a few steps you’ll need to take before the start of the school year to ensure everything is ready when the time comes. Depending on your situation, you may need to:
- complete your administrative registration;
- submit the required documents;
- pay the CVEC (Student and Campus Life Contribution), a mandatory requirement for all students in their first year of study, which must be completed on the CROUS website before your final registration;
- activate your digital accounts (email, learning platform, class schedule);
- check your class schedule;
- prepare for your arrival on campus (housing, transportation, mobility).
You’ll receive detailed information by email before the start of the semester, no need to memorize everything right now.
Don’t panic: there’s no need to study intensively all summer long. At 3iL, we support you as you build your skills at your own pace, particularly through a week of remedial instruction held at the start of the year on the Clever Learn platform, to help you solidify your foundational knowledge before diving into the curriculum. However, a few reminders can make your transition easier:
- review the fundamentals of math, physics, and algorithms, especially if you’re entering your first year;
- refresh your programming skills, particularly with languages like Python;
- stay informed about the latest developments in digital technology (AI, cybersecurity, the cloud, etc.) through reading, videos, or podcasts.
Tip: Follow our social media accounts to get a feel for the school’s atmosphere and discover the projects of your future classmates right now.
To get off to a stress-free start, here are a few practical things to plan for:
- A laptop: Most of our courses and learning tools require you to have your own device. Specific technical requirements will be provided before the start of the school year.
- Some basic supplies: a notebook, something to write with. Most course materials are provided or available online, but having a few personal supplies on hand is still helpful.
- Make sure your digital access is set up so you don’t waste time on the first day of class.
Your first day of class is, above all, a time to get settled in. Here’s what’s on the agenda:
- a welcome from the 3iL staff, and often from the student organizations themselves;
- an overview of your program;
- an introduction to the school’s services and campus life;
- practical information about your academic year;
- and a chance to get to know your classmates.
It’s also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and get your bearings, without any pressure. Both the faculty and the student organizations will be there to guide you through your first steps and help you feel at home right away.
Getting Off to a good start this year
Once the new academic year has begun, you’ll have access to all the tools and services designed to support you throughout your academic journey: learning platforms, digital services, student life, administrative support, and useful contacts. All this information will be provided to you gradually, as your needs arise.
